Mary Lou Post, 84 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2020 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Mary Lou was born on February 19, 1936, at Fairfield, Nebraska, the younger of two children, to Louie J. and Mary Christine (Brehm) Schnell. She received her primary education at a country school near Fairfield and Fairfield Elementary School and then attended and graduated from Clay Center High School, in Clay Center, Nebraska, with the class of 1953. Following graduation, Mary Lou was employed in the office of Timberlake Enterprises in Hastings, Nebraska.
On November 7, 1954, Mary Lou was united in marriage to Edmund "Gene" Post at the Union Church in Clay Center. Following their marriage, they began to make their home in Hastings. They later moved to Holdrege, where they lived for over 60 years. They were blessed with four children: Mike, Linda, Cindy, and Lori. Mary Lou worked as Bookkeeper at KK Appliance until her retirement in 1992.
Early in life, Mary Lou enjoyed her time as a Cub Scout Leader, Bluebird Leader, and playing the piano for Sunday school classes at the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Mary Lou was an avid reader; fantastic baker; enjoyed cross stitch and camping; and treasured time with family, including school events for her grandchildren.
Mary Lou was preceded in death by; her parents; a grandson, Doug Davison; son-in-law, Thomas J. Candy; sister-in-law, Bethelien Post; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Darelel and Viola Post; and brother-in-law, Robert Campbell.
Mary Lou leaves to celebrate her life; her husband, Gene Post of Holdrege; son, Mike Post and his wife, Chris of Lee's Summit, Missouri; three daughters: Linda Davison and her husband, Scott of Grand Island, Nebraska; Cindy Soderholm of Grand Island; and Lori Candy of Holdrege; four grandchildren: Kyle Soderholm; Angela Olson; Ashley Mueller; and Nickolas Sell; six great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Campbell of Hastings, Nebraska; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins; other relatives; and friends.
The family is honoring Mary Lou's wish for cremation. There will be no visitation or viewing.
A memorial has been established in Mary Lou's honor, and kindly suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
