A Funeral Service for Megan J. (Olson) Paulsen will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Paul Ferrarone officiating.  Casual attire is requested or your Husker or KC Chief attire.  Interment will follow at the Alma Cemetery.

Megan Jo (Olson) Paulsen, 41 years of age, of Alma, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at Harlan County Health System in Alma. Megan was born March 15, 1983, in Alma, the middle of three children born to Lavon and Karen (Lubeck) Olson. She received her primary education from Alma Public Schools and graduated from Alma High School with the class of 2001.  Megan pursued higher education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and attained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education.

Following her graduation, Megan taught at Cambridge Public Schools for a few years and then worked at an Under the Umbrella Daycare in Alma as a preschool teacher.

On October 23, 2010, Megan was united in marriage to John Paulsen at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma.  The couple made their home in Alma, and were blessed with three children: Ryker, Sawyer, and Elsie.

Megan provided in-home daycare for many local families while her children were growing up. When her children began attending school, Megan began working at Brookstone Home, Health, and Hospice in Holdrege and then Harlan County Health System in Alma.

Megan was her kids biggest (and LOUDEST supporter), supporting and cheering for them during sporting events and other activities.   She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she served on the Peace Lutheran Church Counsel and on the Sunday School Board. Megan was also a member of the Zeta Alpha Service Sorority.

She was preceded in death by her son, Sawyer in 2013; her brother, Aaron Olson in 2005; maternal grandparents, Leo and Ilene Lubeck; paternal grandparents, Cecil and Marie Olson; uncles Bob Nibbe, Brad Popple; and aunt, Marcia Olson.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children: Ryker and Elsie Paulsen of Alma; fur babies, Finn and Theo; her parents, Lavon and Karen Olson of Alma; sister and niece, Callyn Olson and daughter Aubriella Johnson of Fort Collins, Colorado; aunts and uncles:  Christine and Dave Howsden of Kearney, Nebraska; Lee and Lynda Lubeck of Stamford, Nebraska; Johanna Popple of Alma (and friend, Craig Weaver of Beaver City, Nebraska); Sonya and Stanley Johnson of Stamford; Gwenda Nibbe of Alma; Allen Olson of Holdrege; Carol and Lee Flasnick of Helena, Montana; many cousins and their families:  Anthony Howsden; Tessa (Jonathan) Anderson; Tenaya (Jared) Nuttleman; Micah Howsden; Amber (Travis) Rinehart; Karla Lubeck; Daren (Jeana) Popple; AJ (Emily) Popple; Emily (Jade) White; Heidi (Dave) Smith; Holly Reiling; Michelle (Dom) Johnson; Matthew Johnson; Doug Nibbe; Anne (Doug) Klute; Lorrie (Heath) Haden; Joseph (Amanda) Olson; Jacob (Angela) Olson; Elizabeth James; and Carlee (Jesse) Brown; her husband, John Paulsen of Aurora, Nebraska; step-sons:  Owen Jackson of Norfolk, Nebraska; and Colton Belmont (Zoe Waage and family) of Fremont; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alan and Melodee Paulsen of Aurora; brother-in-law, Andrew Paulsen (Madelyn) and family of Pleasant Dale, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Kiley Paulsen and family of Grand Island, Nebraska; along with other relatives; and many dear friends.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma.

A memorial has been established in Megan's honor to establish an education fund for her children.
