Melissa Joan (Brewer) Kreutzer, 49 years of age, of Keystone, Nebraska (formerly of Webster City, Iowa) passed away peacefully on Friday, March 25, 2011 at the Clarkson Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska from complications of a bone morrow transplant.
Graveside Services and Interment for Melissa will be held at the Fridhem Cemetery at Funk, Nebraska on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Bill Forbes, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, 2011 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with the family greeting friends from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
An additional visitation for memorial book signing and the family present will be on Friday, evening April 1, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (MT) at the Martin Bay Community Church, 1875 Hwy 61 North in Lemoyne, Nebraska.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. (MT) at the Martin Bay Community Church in Lemoyne, Nebraska with Pastors Bill Forbes and Duane Dunwoody, officiating. Following the memorial service a fellowship time will be held at the church.
Melissa was born July 4, 1961 at Spirit Lake, Iowa to Robert and Elizabeth (Schott) Brewer. She received her education from Webster City, Iowa, graduating from Webster City High School with the class of 1979. She then pursued higher education and attended Cosmetology School in Waterloo, Iowa.
On December 31, 1993 she was united in marriage to Terry E. Kreutzer and to this union one son, Tyler was born. The family made their home in Denver, Colorado and then Hudson, Colorado before settling to Keystone, Nebraska. Melissa was employed at Steve's Super Valu, Webster City Country Club and Harvesting Strategy Group, where she was an auditor.
Melissa was an active member of Martin Bay Community Church. She worked diligently at keeping the church organized. Melissa loved children of all ages and worked to make sure their needs were met, from the nursery, to the play area and also organized fund raisers for the youth group. She spent many hours volunteering her time and talents developing the nursery at the church in honor of her granddaughter, Makayla. In Melissa's honor the children's playground at church was named, Melissa's Playground.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Brewer; granddaughter, Makayla Kreutzer; daughter-in-law, Sondra Kreutzer; and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Emil and Lila Kreutzer.
Melissa is survived by her husband, Terry; son, Tyler both of Keystone; mother and step-father, Betty and Tom Romick of Webster City, Iowa, step-mother, Beth Brewer of Pine, Arizona; four grandchildren: Lance, Cody, Sarah and Wyatt; one brother, Francis Brewer and his wife, Michelle; two sisters: Karen Brewer and her special friend, Scott Heidick and Lynne Brinkman all of Webster City; two step-sons: Tim Kreutzer and his special friend, Sherri and Travis Kreutzer and his wife, Jennifer; brother-in-law, Marlo Kreutzer and his wife, Sharon of Funk; sister-in-law, Donna Jean Johnson and her husband, Waynard of Holdrege; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
