Melvin W Fredrickson

Melvin Walter Fredrickson, 93 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege, Nebraska.  He was born on January 6, 1924 on a farm near Lindsay, Nebraska, the youngest of four children born to Walter E. and Gertrude (Adamson) Fredrickson. He attended school at Looking Glass School District #40 near Rosenburg Nebraska, and graduated from Newman Grove, Nebraska High School with the class of 1941.

On April 16, 1947, he was united in marriage to Audree Odean Storek and to this union two sons were born: Kenneth and Dennis. The couple made their home on a farm near Lindsay. Later, they moved to Guide Rock, Nebraska and later to Lexington, Nebraska and in 1968 moved to Smith Center, Kansas and then to Holdrege in 1978. Audree passed away on July 5, 1996.

Melvin loved playing baseball, horseback riding, and enjoyed picnics as he was growing up.

Besides his parents and wife, Audree, Melvin was preceded in death by his three sisters: Ethel and Edna Fredrickson as children and Jeanette Gruchow and her husband, Arnold.

Survivors include: his son, Dennis Fredrickson and his wife, Twila of Bertram, Texas; granddaughters: Laura Fredrickson of Dallas, Texas, Lisa Lee and her husband, A.J. and children, Brecken and Abby all of Austin, Texas; his son, Kenneth Fredrickson and his wife, Cindy and their children, Amy, Erik, and Eli and their families all of Tennessee; sister-in-law, Betty Sawyer of Wichita, Kansas; and niece, Laurie Sawyer of Wichita.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

There will be no memorial book signing or visitation. The family is honoring Melvin's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Melvin's honor and kindly suggested to the Christian Homes Care Community at 1923 West Fourth Avenue, Holdrege, NE 68949.
