Merlyn "Mert" Clark

A Joint Graveside Memorial Service for Merlyn Clark and Linda K. (Benton) Clark will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating.  Military Honors provided by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team, in conjunction with the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66.

Linda K. Clark died on Thursday, October 3, 2019, in Ragan, Nebraska.

Merlyn Wayne "Mert" Clark, 79, of Holdrege, formerly of Ragan, died on Friday, June 13, 2025, at Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege.  He was born in Stratton, Colorado on September 3, 1945, the second of ten children born to Kenneth and Arlyne (Windell) Clark.  He graduated from Holbrook High School.

On January 29, 1965, Mert enlisted into the United States Navy at San Francisco, California.  He was honorably discharged on January 28, 1971.

On December 27, 1991, Linda was united in marriage to Merlyn W. "Mert" Clark at the Phelps County Courthouse in Holdrege.  The couple made their home in Ragan and enjoyed attending dances, boating, and each other's company. Mert worked as a Machinist in Holdrege at BD and at Hawkins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Dennis, Rodney, and Mark; and two sisters: Vicki Carr, and Donna Wyman.

He is survived by his step-children:  David Waters and his wife, Diane of Lincoln, Nebraska; Martin Waters of Stamford, Nebraska; Cynthia Mapes and her husband, James of Holdrege; five grandchildren:  Brittany Waters, Crystal Waters, Lee Allen Waters, Blake Phillip Waters, and Megan Nicole Waters; many great-grandchildren; sisters: Karin (Jim) Riepe of Englewood, Colorado; Sheryl (Jerry) Moulton of Holdrege; brothers, Lonnie (Lori) Longmont, Colorado, and Steve Clark of Lincoln, Nebraska; along with extended family members.

There will not be a visitation, viewing, or memorial book signing the evening prior to the graveside service.  He will be cremated.

Memorials in Merlyn's honor are kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
