Memorial Book Signing for family and friends of Michael E. Dietz will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 with the family greeting from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Michael Eugene "Mike" Dietz, 59 years of age, of Holdrege (formerly of Oxford, Nebraska), passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. He was born on September 1, 1960, at the Oxford General Hospital, the only child born to Norman Ray and Sharon Lee (Hornaday) Dietz. He was baptized in the Methodist faith in 1974 in Oxford. He received his education in Oxford, graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1978. He then pursued higher education at the Central Community College in Hastings, Nebraska.

Mike enlisted in the National Guards in 1980, but due to a back injury, was medically discharged.

Mike began working early in life, first for his dad at the Better Buys in Oxford. He then drove semi-truck, and was connected with agriculture. Mike was a people person, and was always considered a devoted employee wherever he worked.

He was united in marriage to Anita Tiedge, and to this union two children were born: Morgan, and Chyne. The couple later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Sharen Saf, and to this union three children were born: Seth, Michael and Kaleb. This marriage later ended in divorce.

Mike loved cars; either working on them or racing them. He enjoyed the outdoors, be it boating, water-skiing, camping, or biking. When going camping with the family, they would be loaded to the brim, and Mike would always comment on how they looked like a band of gypsies heading down the road.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Norman Ray Dietz; and his grandparents.

Mike leaves to celebrate his life: his mother, Sharon Ludeke and her husband, Ron of Oxford; five children: Morgan Thomas and her husband, Blake; Chyne Dietz and his wife, Alyssa; Seth Saf and his wife, Ashley; Michael Ray Dietz; and Kaleb Dietz; his very special lady of 16 years, Poppy White of Holdrege; Poppy's children: Kelsey, Jenna, and Joe Wilcox. In addition, Mike is survived by his extended family: Brad Ludeke and his wife, Tracie; Kelsie Gardels and her husband, Thomas; Lexie Ludeke; Pat Ludeke; Kylie and Amyiah Ross; and Laura Tobiassen; and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Mike's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
