A funeral service for Michele S. Barngrover-Dietz will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma, Nebraska with Mr. Bill Bills officiating. Burial will follow at the Orleans Cemetery in Orleans, Nebraska.
Michele Sue Barngrover-Dietz, 60 years of age, of Orleans, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at her home. Michele was born on January 18, 1966, the eighth of ten children born to Vernon LeRoy and Sharon Louise (Smith) Garton. She received her education from Superior Public School until the 11th grade, and later received her GED.
She was united in marriage to Dean Barngrover and the couple was blessed with one son, DeanMichael. Michele welcomed Dean's two sons, Joshua and Jeremiah Williams, as her own. The family made their home in many towns in Nebraska, including Fairmont, Utica, Lincoln, Hastings, Geneva, and York. While living in York, Michele was employed at York High School as a paraeducator from 1989 until 2001 and also worked at Hearthstone as a CNA. Dean preceded her in death in 2009.
On September 6, 2010, Michele was united in marriage to the love of her life, Lydell Dietz and they made their home in Orleans. She continued her passion, working as a CNA at the Beaver City and Franklin Nursing Homes.
Michele enjoyed collecting Angels and was a clearance rack queen! She had a compassionate heart and found great joy in helping others whenever she could.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leslie Garton; and her nephew, Eugene File.
Michele leaves to celebrate her life; her husband, Lydell Dietz of Orleans; her son, DeanMichael Barngrover of Bethphage Mission, Axtell, Nebraska; two step-sons: Joshua Williams of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Jeremiah Williams of Beatrice, Nebraska; her siblings: Mary File of Concordia, Kansas; Julie (Curt) Drake of Superior; Raymond (Jackie) Garton of Belton, Texas; Ken Garton of Seward, Nebraska; Sheryl Garton (Bill Wiggins) of Minden, Nebraska; Carrie Pavelka of Grafton, Nebraska; Joy (Mike) Williams of Geneva, Nebraska; Patrick Garton of Seward; Michael Garton of Wisconsin; and Christina Garton-Carpenter of Grandby, Missouri; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim and Carol Dietz of Stamford, Nebraska; brother-in-law, Leslie (Teena) Dietz of rural Orleans; and many nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly: Marna (Brian) Fink; Kaleb Drake; Chloe Drake; Trevis (Jessica) Trautman; Carmisha Alliy; Heath Garton; Melinda Pike; Derek, Joseph, Adam, Zach, and Lucas Garton; Aadel Bussinger; Vanessa Pruitt; Shayna Garton Cantrell; Sherarose Cantrell, Shayn Garton Cantrell, and Breanna Garton; Leo Ryan Pavelka; Timothy Pavelka; Quinn Pavelka; Jostin Hoit, Makenzie Mahieu, Hayley Williams, and Jackie Williams; Meryia Weedaman; Brittany Hoit; Justin (Ashley) Dietz; Shelby (Tyler) Worrell; Dakota Garton; and Kellen Carpenter; along with extended family.
A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
