Mildred Grace Urbom, 84 years of age, of Overton, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at CHI Health – Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Mildred was born August 25, 1933 at Erie, Kansas, the youngest of four children born to Louis E. and Grace F. (Foxworthy) Newton. Mildred received her primary education from Erie, Kansas, then the family moved to Axtell, Nebraska, where she completed her education.

On February 4, 1951, Mildred was united in marriage to Eugene W. Urbom at Axtell. To this union four children were born: Louis, Yvonne, Brian and Audrey. Throughout the years, the family made their home in several communities that included: Holdrege, Cozad, Red Cloud, Lexington, until settling and retiring in Overton. When the children were young, Mildred focused her efforts on raising the kids. Later in years, while living in Lexington, she was employed by Tri-County Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska for many years.

Mildred was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Lexington, and in her spare time she loved to crochet.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Bob Newton; two sisters: Mary Harvey and her husband, Bill and Catherine Cornell and her husband, Lee; step-sister, Madge Johnson and her husband, Burdette; step-brother, Roy Jackson and his wife, Violet; and Elgin Jackson and his wife, Arlene; brothers-in-law: James Urbom and his wife, Elaine; and Frank Schultz; and sisters-in-law: Arlene Wehland and her husband, Roy; Blanche Renken and her husband, Hilbert; and Faye Peterson and her husband, Willard.

Mildred leaves to celebrate her life; her husband of 67 years, Eugene Urbom of Overton; four children: Louis Urbom of Overton; Yvonne Tuton and her husband, David of Hope Mills, North Carolina; Brian Urbom and his wife, Carole of Grand Island, Nebraska; and Audrey Riebschlager and her husband, Ben of Overton; five grandsons: Cory, Christopher, and Kevin Tuton; Andrew Urbom; and Wyatt Riebschlager.

In addition, Mildred was survived by step-sister, Nova Schultz of Omaha, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Cecilia Newton of Alamogordo, New Mexico; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A private family graveside service will be held at a later date at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Mildred's honor, and kindly suggested to the First United Methodist Churches of Lexington and Overton.
