A Memorial Book Signing/Visitation for Milton N. Claypool, Jr. will be held at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, August 21, 2010 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon with the family greeting friends from 10:00 a.m. – Noon. Following the visitation, private family burial will be in the Orleans Cemetery at Orleans, Nebraska with Reverend Delmar Weimers, officiating.
Milton Newell Claypool, Jr., 71 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Milton was born January 22, 1939 on the family farm, south of Orleans in Harlan County, Nebraska, the second of three children born to Milton N. Claypool Sr. and Minnie M. (Dietz) Claypool. He was baptized as an infant on April 9, 1939 and received into the Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was confirmed at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska. Milton received his primary education at a rural school south of Orleans and then continued his education at Orleans, graduating from Orleans High School with the class of 1958.
Following his education, Milton settled to Holdrege, where he held various jobs until he began his employment at Becton-Dickinson. He worked at B-D until his retirement.
Milton loved to play bingo, was an avid reader and often would read 2-3 books a week. He had a special place in his heart for animals and was always concerned about his nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege.
He leaves to mourn his passing his brother, Ken Claypool and his wife, Bev of Lincoln, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Margaret Bennett and her husband, Slim.
A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
