Memorial Services for Mitchell R.J. Hupka will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Monday, December 8, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastors Bruce Demmel, Brian Demmel and Mitch Ivey, officiating.
Mitchell R.J. Hupka, 17 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Holdrege. Mitch was born July 18, 1991 at Holdrege, the second of three children of Martin and Sonja (Bourelle) Hupka. Mitch was baptized and accepted Jesus Christ as his Personal Savior in 2006 as part of a family ceremony. Mitch received his primary education in Holdrege and was currently a junior at Holdrege High School. Mitch was employed at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege in the dietary department.
He enjoyed playing his guitar, hunting, fishing, and attending rock concerts with his friends. He had an intense interest in sports cars and motorcycles. He will be remembered for his ability to give a great big hug, his quick whit, and good sense of humor. Mitch never missed an opportunity to tell his loved ones, "I love you." Above all in life, what meant most to Mitch was the time spent with family, especially his Grandpa Bourelle.
He leaves to mourn his passing his parents: Martin and Sonja Hupka of Holdrege; sister, Amanda Hupka at home in Holdrege; grandparents: Richard and Paula Bourelle of Holdrege and Eldon and Karen Ingraham of North Loup, Nebraska; great-grandmothers: LaRena Bourelle of Holdrege, Dr. Grace Ketterman of Leawood, Kansas and Dorothy Ingraham of Ord, Nebraska; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Kelly in infancy; grandfather, Ralph Hupka; maternal great-grandparents: Jens and Alice Hoy and Harold Bourelle; and paternal great-grandparents: Raymond and Lucille Hupka and Herbert Ketterman.
Memorial Book Signing will be held on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. There will be no viewing, the family has chosen cremation.
A memorial has been established in Mitch's memory and will be designated at a later date.
