Nancy L Barker

Celebration of Life Service for Nancy L. Barker will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Park Assembly of God Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Steinbach officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at the Prairie Center Haven Chapel Cemetery, northeast of Kearney, Nebraska.

Nancy Lynn Barker, 63 years of age, of Bertrand, Nebraska (formerly of Holdrege, Nebraska) passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Phelps Memorial Health Center following a courageous battle with cancer. Nancy was born December 4, 1953 at Hastings, Nebraska, the third of four children born to James D. and Evelyn L. (Schwerdtfeger) Mason. She received her education from several schools including: Loomis, Holdrege, Kearney, Hastings, and Lincoln Public Schools.

On August 6, 1982, she was united in marriage to Cloyd Richard Barker at Helper, Utah. The couple were blessed with two children: Todd and Brenda. The family made their home in Price, Utah, where Nancy focused her efforts raising their children. In 1985, they moved to Holdrege, where Nancy began a career caring for others as a nurse's aide at the Christian Homes Care Community. Throughout the years, Nancy was also employed by the Utah Department of Roads, Service Master, and Artistic Woven Labels in Holdrege for ten years, prior to her health beginning to fail. The past seven years, she began to make her home at the Bertrand Nursing Home.

Nancy had a special place in her heart for animals, whether it was a stray cat, or a wild animal; she cared for their existence in this world. Many camping trips, formed many family memories that she treasured. She loved her grandchildren; and taking them with her to church at North Park Assembly was an important part of her life. For 15 years, she battled cancer. Her will to live was admired by all who knew her!

On August 7, 2004 she was preceded in death by her husband, Cloyd. Besides her husband; she was preceded in death by her mother, and grandparents.

Nancy leaves to celebrate her life; her father, James Dale Mason of LaMars, Iowa; her two children: Todd Barker and his wife, Patricia of Fremont, Nebraska, and Brenda Wright and her significant other, Cory Raboin of Holdrege; eight grandchildren: Dalton Barker, Jenna Wright, Devin Barker, Colten Wright, Dakota Harms, Jayden Wright, Alek Raboin and Lilly Raboin; three brothers: Larry Mason and his wife, Gloria of Kearney, Jim Mason and his wife, Carol of Kimball, Nebraska, and Scott Mason of Sutherland, Iowa; two sisters: Dianna Melroy of Holdrege, and Judy Spath and her husband, Doug of Sioux City, Iowa; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in her honor and kindly suggested to the North Park Assembly of God Church.
