Nancy A Neal

Nancy A. Neal, 69 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2009 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Memorial services will be conducted from the Christian Homes Chapel at Holdrege on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. with Chaplain DeWane Dow and Reverend Todd Marcy officiating. Private family inurnment will be held a later date in the Santa Nella National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California. There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Nancy's wish for cremation.

Nancy Arminta Neal was born on February 7, 1940, in Los Angeles County, California, the only child of Robert and Arsetta (Worthington) Stopher. Nancy grew up in the Lincoln, Nebraska area, where she received her education at Southeast Community College.

On May 20, 1975 she was united in marriage to Fred E. Neal in Travis County, Texas and to this union, the couple was blessed with the presence of Linda Welsh, Nancy's only daughter from a previous marriage. The couple made their home in Lincoln, Nebraska, where Nancy worked as a professional singer in various Night Club venues. In 2000, Nancy moved to Christian Homes Care Community, to be close to her granddaughter, Rashanna. Nancy resided there until her passing.

Nancy was a member of the State of Nebraska Division of Rehabilitation Services for the Visually Impaired, the American Foundation for the Blind, The Lincoln Braille Club and loved working with her various Guide Dogs. She spent a great deal of time and effort tirelessly fighting to improve the rights of visually impaired and handicapped individuals. Nancy also loved to spend time with her family and her friends she met at Christian Homes.

She leaves to mourn her passing her granddaughter, Rashanna Fulmer and her husband, Corey of Holdrege; grandson, Chris Welsh of California; great-grandchildren, Cassie and Connor Fulmer of Holdrege, Nebraska; close friend, Diane Martin of Holdrege, Nebraska, as well as many other relatives and friends.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Fred in 1996; one daughter, Linda in 1999; and her parents.

Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, or to the Christian Homes Care Community Aviary fund.
