Nancy L. Smith

Graveside Services for Nancy Smith will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at 2:00 p.m. at the Box Elder Cemetery located north of Cumro, Nebraska, with Chaplain Jean Clayton officiating.

Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services and Gatherings will be followed.  The family sincerely encourages each person to make their decision whether to attend Nancy's services, based on the best interest of your health, and that of your community.  The funeral and graveside services will be live-streamed via the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home Facebook page.

Nancy Lee Smith, 80 years of age, of Franklin, Nebraska, formerly of Wilcox, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020, at the Arbor Care Centers Nursing Home, in Franklin.  Nancy was born on May 9, 1940 in Morgantown, West Virginia, the oldest of three daughters born to Paul and Opal (Herrington) Smith. Nancy attended school at Riverside Elementary in Morgantown.

Nancy moved to Nebraska in 1993, to live with her sister, JoAnn, in Wilcox.  In 2015, she moved to Arbor Care Center in Franklin.  Nancy enjoyed all the residences and nurses at the care center.  She had a love for chocolate, especially M&M's.  She also had a contagious smile that could light up a room.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents.

Nancy leaves to celebrate her life; two sisters: JoAnn Huffman and her husband, Ivyl of Wilcox; and Karen Suzanne Glidewell of Grover Beach, California; nephew, Edward Huffman and his wife, Diane of Belton, Missouri, niece, Sandra Huffman of Wilcox and many extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness, support and prayers during this difficult time.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.  Face coverings will be required.

A memorial has been established in Nancy's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
