Neil B. Huffman, 85 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska.

Following a private family burial at the Oxford Cemetery, the family will receive friends for fellowship and lunch at Mort's Lodge at Oxford, on Thursday, March 22, 2012 from Noon – 2:00 p.m.

Neil was born May 7, 1926 at Oxford, the eldest of two children born to E.E. "Edd" and Martha (Gipe) Huffman. He received his education from Oxford Public Schools, graduating from Oxford High School with the class of 1944. Following his education, Neil served his country in the United States Army from June 5, 1945 until his honorable discharge on November 9, 1946. Following his service, Neil returned home to Oxford.

In September of 1947 he was united in marriage to Dolores Knipschild and to this union three children were born: Linda, Nancy and Dale. Neil farmed for a few years and then went to work for the Oxford Redi-Mix Plant. He then became the Manager for the Oxford Lumber Yard. He also managed and worked at the Oxford Legion Club. After the death of his father, Neil returned to farming at the home place, where he stayed until it was necessary for him to move into town. In December of 2011, Neil began to make his home at Holdrege Memorial Homes due to his failing health.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Cyril Vosburg. Neil is survived by his three children: Linda Radtke of Atlanta, Nebraska, Nancy Wolzen and her husband, Richard of Belleville, Kansas, and Dale Huffman of Lexington, Nebraska; six grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; six great-great grandchildren; sister, Nila Vosburg of Coalinga, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to the Oxford Rescue Unit or the Oxford Golden Generation Center.
