Funeral Services for Nora M. Lashley will be held on Tuesday, September 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the North Park Assembly of God Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Brian Steinbach officiating. Interment will follow at the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Nora Mae Lashley, 86 years of age, of El Paso, Texas, (formerly of Bertrand, Nebraska), passed away on September 2, 2016 at her home in El Paso with daughters: Linda, Nora and Sharon; granddaughter, Natasha; and great-granddaughter, Haydee by her side. As well as her two beloved dogs: Mitzi and Sassy that never left her side. Nora was born June 2, 1930 at Watson, Missouri, the fifth of 10 children born to John and Mae (Wooten) Howlett.
Following her education, she was united in marriage to Charles F. Lashley, Sr. on August 3, 1946 at Harrisburg, Nebraska and to this union 11 children were born: Gary, Roy, Floyd, Dale, Roger, Charles Jr., Linda, Nora Jean, Carl, Sharon and Walter. The family made their home in several communities throughout Wyoming and Nebraska, where Nora focused on being a homemaker and caring for the children. Charles preceded her in death on May 20, 2007 and she began to make her home in El Paso near her daughters.
Nora enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, polka and country music, older TV programs that Charles and her liked watching, and she was an avid gardener. She also enjoyed jig saw puzzles and word finds; but most of all, she loved to spend time with her family.
She leaves to mourn her passing; six sons: Roy Lashley Sr. and his wife, Sarah of Sylvester, West Virginia, Floyd Lashley and his wife, Bev of Bertrand, Roger Lashley, Sr. of Oxford, Nebraska, Charles Lashley Jr. of North Platte, Nebraska, Carl Lashley of Oxford and Walter Lashley of Hesperia, California; three daughters: Linda Hood of El Paso, Nora Jean Hodges and her husband, Frank Jr. of El Paso and Sharon Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico; 25 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; two brothers: Bill Howlett of Sonoma, California and Jesse Howlett of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sister-in-law, Anna Ashcraft of Minatare, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Colleen Lashley of El Paso; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; two sons: Dale Lashley Sr. and Gary Lashley, Sr.; son-in-law, William Hood; two daughters-in-law: Starr Lashley and Donna Hart; grandson, Gary Lashley Jr.; great-granddaughter, Marisol Arellano; siblings: Jim, Earl "Bub", Rolland, Lewis, Richard, Helen and Mary; brothers-in-law: Almon Lashley, Richard Lashley and Charles Ashcraft; and her beloved dog, "Fuzzy" who will be buried with her.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
Following the committal service at the cemetery, a time of fellowship will be held at the North Park in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Nora's honor and kindly suggested to Hospice of El Paso.
