Norma J. Andreasen Memorial Services have been rescheduled.
Due to inclement weather, the Memorial Service for Norma J. Andreasen has been rescheduled for Friday, April 13, 2018 at 5:30 p.m. at the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska with Pastors Sarah Shanks and Paul Ferrarone officiating.
Private family inurnment was held at the Kearney Cemetery, Kearney, Nebraska.
Norma Jean Andreasen, 86 years of age, of Kearney, formerly of Alma, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society – Prairie View Gardens Assisted Living in Kearney. Norma was born September 11, 1931, in Gibbon, Nebraska, one of eight children born to Alfred G. and Irma I. (Sprague) Gillming. Norma received her primary education and later graduated from Kearney High School. She then attended Joseph's School of Cosmetology and was employed as a hairdresser, in Kearney for many years.
On November 3, 1951, she was united in marriage to Leonard N. Andreasen at Grand Island, Nebraska, and to this union two daughters were born: Connie and Pat. The family made their home in Kearney, until moving to California.
In the late 1960's, the family returned to Nebraska, first living in Kearney and later settling in Alma, where Norma enjoyed many years of fishing, sewing, cooking and playing cards; which became her passion. She was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Alma. Norma was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be remembered always.
Besides her parents and husband, Leonard; Norma was preceded in death by; two brothers: Wayne Gillming and Walt Gillming; brother-in-law, Verden Andreasen; sisters-in-law, Lorraine (Paige) Pettett and Yvonne (Ross) Gibbons; and two nephews: Greg Pettett and Victor Gibbons.
Norma leaves to celebrate her life; her two daughters: Connie Broe and her husband, Dennis, of Covington, Georgia, and Pat Ourada and her husband, Stan Ourada, of rural Axtell, Nebraska; six grandchildren: Jeremy Broe and his wife, Carmen; Justin Broe; Megan Ryba and her husband, Jake; Jason Ourada; Emily Worth and her husband, Luke; and Andrew Ourada and his wife, Ashley; five great-grandchildren: Ayden, Nelson, and Maisyn Ourada and Sebastian and Stephen Broe; five sisters: Buela Hart of Houston, Texas, Marie Perry of Phoenix, Arizona, Betty Snyder of Kearney, Veda Reese of Phoenix, and Doris Couch and her husband, Jake of Alma.
There will be no visitation as the family is honoring Norma's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Norma's honor, and kindly suggested to Peace Lutheran Church in Alma.
