Memorial Services for Norma J. Hellner will be conducted from the Christian Church in Edison, Nebraska on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Kirk Einspahr officiating. Inurnment will be in the Edison Cemetery following the services.

Norma Joann Hellner, 86 years of age, of Lincoln, Nebraska (formerly of Edison) passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at the Lancaster Manor and Rehabilitation Center in Lincoln. She was born January 25, 1928 on the family farm in Furnas County, Nebraska, the youngest of four children born to Merlin M. and Florence Catherine (Ferguson) Martin. Norma attended school in Edison, graduating from Edison High School with the class of 1945, and matriculated to McCook Community College.

On June 30, 1946, she was united in marriage to Charles Gordon "Gordie" Milligan and to this union three children were born: Becky, Kay and Mark. The couple later divorced.

On May 31, 1973 she was united in marriage to Thomas F. Hellner, Sr. and she welcomed Tom's son, Thomas Hellner, Jr. into the family. On March 20, 2002, she was preceded in death by Thomas, Sr.

Norma was employed as an office administrator and cashier for Kinder Morgan for 26 years until her retirement in 1992.

She enjoyed sewing, quilting and gardening. She was a member of the Christian Church in Edison.

Besides her parents and husband, Thomas, Norma was preceded in death by a grandson, Danny Paul O'Brien; her brother, Ward Martin, and his wife, Lenore; sisters-in-law: Judy Martin and Athene Martin.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her three children: Becky Arndt and her husband, Dan of Grand Island, Nebraska, Kay Bantam and her husband, Larry of Lincoln, Mark Milligan and his wife, Cyndi of Evergreen, Colorado; step-son, Thomas Hellner, Jr. of Oxford, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren; 1 step-grandson; 10 great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild; two brothers: Kenneth Martin of McCook, Nebraska, Mark Martin and his wife, Ruby of Kearney, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Norma's wish for cremation.
