Okey C. Williamson of Holdrege, Nebraska passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his home in Holdrege. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege with Pastor Murray Jones officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
Okey Cloyd Williamson, 64 years of age, was born on November 12, 1946 in Ranger, West Virginia to Robert and Tennessee (Nelson) Williamson. He was raised and attended school in the Ranger area. On August 13, 1968 he was inducted into the United States Army where he faithfully served is country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged on August 6, 1970. He then moved to the McDougal, Arkansas area.
On December 10, 1999, he was united in marriage to Andrea Judd and the couple made their home in McDougal, Arkansas and later in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania area until moving to Holdrege in 2009. While in Holdrege, Okey worked as a newspaper carrier for the Holdrege Daily Citizen.
Okey was a member of the Eagle's Club in Punxsutawney.
He enjoyed art, drawing mountain scenes, storytelling, trains, going for walks and spending time with friends and family. Okey had a great sense of humor and loved to live a full life.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Ralph, Roy, Callas, Hassle and Bobbie.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife Andrea; two sisters: Donna Harness and Evlyn Morrison; three brothers: Russell Williamson, Robie Williamson and his wife, Thelma Gene, Romie Williamson and his wife, Twila Mae; as well as several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Okey's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
