Funeral Service for Pattie Lu Fagot will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Pastor Nora Mendyk officiating. Following the service, interment will be held at the St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery in Lexington, Nebraska.
Due to health concerns, regarding the COVID-19 pandemic; current CDC and Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services guidelines for Faith-Based Services and Gatherings will be followed. Pattie Lu Fagot, 71 years of age, of Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021, at her home in Loomis after a courageous battle with cancer. Pattie was born on March 26, 1949, at West Point, Nebraska, the second of three children, born to Fredrick Allen and Mary Bee (Nelson) Nellor. Pattie received her education from Beemer Public Schools in Beemer, Nebraska, graduating with the class of 1967. She then pursued higher education at Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in K-8 th grade Education.
While attending Wayne State College she met Keith Fagot and the couple were united in Marriage on August 29, 1970, and to this union two children were born: Chad Michael and Amy Lynn. Following her graduation in 1972, Pattie began her teaching career at Wheeler Central public Schools in Bartlett, Nebraska. In 1980, Pattie moved with her husband to Loomis and began teaching at Phelps County R-6 School District. In 2006, when the Kindergarten-8 th grade attendance centers were closed she went to work at Loomis Public Schools for 5 years as a Reading Specialist and retired in 2011 with her husband. Pattie gave several presentations on reading at various school conferences. She instituted the DIBBELS Reading Program at Loomis.
Pattie enjoyed needlepoint, her animals, and traveling especially to Padre Island Beach. As the eldest member she was the Queen Mother of the Yahoo Sisterhood/Red Hat Society, made up of several of her closest friends. In 1967, she won the Betty Crocker Homemaker of the year award. Pattie enjoyed music, she would play the piano and would sing in the church choir in the Beemer Methodist Church. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and her children. She loved to play card games and tease with her grandkids whenever possible. Above all her passion was teaching kids.
Pattie served on the Village Board of Loomis and started the Loomis Public Library. She was an annual Supporter of Eastern Star Masonic Home for Children.
Pattie was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Holdrege and was actively involved in teaching Wednesday night youth lessons for all ages and was instrumental in the backpack program.
Besides her parents and grandparents, she was preceded in death by; her brother, Edwin Nellor; her sister, Joan Varilek; and her parents-in-law, Lawrence and Thelma Lucille Fagot.
Pattie leaves to celebrate her life; her husband Keith of Loomis; her children, Chad Fagot and his wife, Kandice of Casper Wyoming; Amy Fagot Cope and her husband, Mat of Kearney, Nebraska; 5 grandchildren: Mayson Fagot; Riley Cope; Breckyn Fagot; Canon Cope; and Blake Fagot; one brother-in-law, Randy Varilek; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. Face coverings will be required.
A memorial has been established in Pattie's honor and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
