Funeral Services for Paul J. LaRussa III will be conducted from the Cornerstone Community Church of the Nazarene in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, December 14, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Merle Anderson, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Paul John LaRussa III, 49 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska as a result of a single car motor-vehicle accident south of Elm Creek, Nebraska on Friday, December 7, 2007. Paul was born October 6, 1958 at Alton, Illinois, the fourth of eight children of Paul John LaRussa II and Betty (Scott) LaRussa. Paul received his education at Bunker Hill, Illinois.
Following his education, Paul owned and operated a carpet installation business. He then went into Restaurant Management on the East Coast. On March 11, 1986 he was united in marriage to Cindy Schufeldt and to union four children were born: Corey, Nicole, Layne and Alexandra. The family made their home in Kearney, where Paul was a journeyman plumber employed by Anderson Brothers Plumbing and transferred with the company to the Holdrege location in 1992. At the time of his passing he was employed by O'Hara Plumbing of Grand Island, Nebraska.
Paul was an outdoorsman, loved to fish, tending to his garden and fruit trees, was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan, enjoyed playing his guitar, listening to music and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Eagles in Holdrege.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Cindy of Holdrege; two daughters: Nicole LaRussa of Lincoln, Nebraska and Alexandra LaRussa of Holdrege; three sons: Layne LaRussa of Holdrege; Paul John LaRussa IV and Joshua LaRussa both of South Carolina; seven sisters: Paula Quinn and her husband, Fred, RoBertta LaRussa, Virginia Wilson and her husband, Chad, Tina LaRussa, Betsey Whitehead, Angel Donelson and her husband, Steven, and Joey Crawson and her husband, Dan of Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Corey in infancy.
Paul will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Thursday, December 13, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
