A Memorial Service for Paulene H. Anspaugh will be held at a later date. An inurnment will be held at the Fairview Cemetery in Burlington, Colorado.
Paulene Harriet Anspaugh, 87 years of age, of Alma, Nebraska, passed away, on August 26, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa in Alma. Paulene was born in Burlington, Colorado on April 15, 1934, the second of six children, born to Harold and Della (Leander) Matthies. She received her primary education from a rural school in Burlington.
Paulene was united in marriage to Joe Phillips in Burlington and to this union six children were born: John, Joel, Edwin, Mark, Karl, and Joyce. The couple made their home in Edson, Kansas for a few years. They moved their family and raised the kids in Goodland, Kansas. The marriage later ended in divorce.
Paulene moved to the Great Bend, Kansas area and married Tom Anspaugh. Later in life Paulene moved to Alma.
Paulene enjoyed animals, she would help any stray that came to her door. She loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and grandparents, Paulene was preceded in death by: two children: John Phillips; Joyce Ballard and her husband, Xavier; and one great-granddaughter, Lorelai Rose Dauren.
Paulene is survived by: four children: Joel Phillips and his wife, Jan of Penrose, Colorado; Edwin Phillips and his girlfriend, Kelly Long of Satanta, Kansas; Mark Phillips and his wife, Shelly of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; Karl Phillips and his wife, Marlanda of Stamford; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five sisters: Ruth, Evelyn, Bonnie, Peggy, Linda; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
A memorial has been established in Paulene's honor, and kindly suggested to your local Humane Society to help care for the dogs and cats.
