Funeral Services for Pauline E. Bantam will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Pastor Dave Irwin officiating. Burial will follow at the Orleans Cemetery.
Pauline Emma (Hunter) Bantam passed away August 13, 2016 at the Good Samaritan – Colonial Villa in Alma at the age of 102 years, 4 months and 2 days. Pauline was born April 14, 1914 in Hitchcock County, 15 miles south of Trenton, Nebraska to James Thomas and Lillian Olive "Ollie" (Miller) Hunter. Pauline was the third of four daughters born to James and Ollie. When Pauline was five years old, her father died of pneumonia and she, her mother and sisters moved back to Orleans to live with her grandparents, Daniel and Catherine (Finney) Miller. Ollie married Fred Peters and to this union, Pauline's fourth sister was born.
On August 24, 1932, Pauline was united in marriage to Dale Edgar Bantam at the courthouse in Phillipsburg, Kansas. After the ceremony, Dale and Pauline went across the street to celebrate with ice cream sundaes. They were accompanied by their witnesses: Dale's brother, Bryan and his girlfriend, Ruth Raines. They celebrated 72 years together. To this union, Dale Pauline were blessed with three sons and one daughter.
Pauline enjoyed knitting, doing embroidery and reading. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Presbyterian Women, Gingham Girls Extension Club, the Orleans Civic Club and was a 4-H Leader for many years.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; parents; sisters: Blanche Viles and husband, George, Agnes Russell and husband, Art, Maxine DeBord and husband, Frank, and Irene Perry and husband, Darwin; in-laws: Bessie Bantam Garrett, Bryan Bantam and wife, Ruth, Glen Bantam and wife, Pearl, Eleanor Burchett, Nora Carlson and husband, Arnold; along with several nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her children: Kenneth Bantam and his wife, Larene of Holdrege, Nebraska, Duane Bantam and his wife, Vicki of Alma, Nebraska, John Bantam and his wife, Linda of Orleans and Joy Woodruff of Berthoud, Colorado; grandchildren: Angela Regenos and her husband, Marc, Pamela Cooper and her husband, David, Julia Ulrich and her husband, Jim, David Bantam and his wife, Joanna, Don Bantam, Andrew Bantam and his wife, Lacey, Casey Bantam, Laura Woodruff and her wife, Christy Sgambati, Michael Woodruff and his wife, Mary, and Elizabeth Woodruff and her husband, Nate Jansen; great-grandchildren: McKenna Regenos, Natalie Spitzlberger and her husband, Jake, Alex Regenos, Olivia and Ben Cooper, Taylor and Morgan Ulrich, Natalie and Mackenzie Roeder and Malaini and Emma Bantam; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.
A memorial has been established in Pauline's honor and kindly suggested to the Cordelia B. Preston Memorial Library in Orleans, American Diabetes Association, Aseracare Hospice or Donor's Choice
