Memorial Services for Pearl E. Johnson will be held on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Gary Panko, officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery north of Bertrand, Nebraska.
Pearl Evelyn (Huggett) Johnson, 92 years of age of Golden, Colorado (formerly of Bertrand) passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 in Golden. She was born August 2, 1916 in rural Gosper County on a farm north of Arapahoe, Nebraska, the third child of William and Mollie (Fanter) Huggett. She attended school in both Arapahoe and Elwood.
In 1934, she was united in marriage to A. Lloyd Johnson of Bertrand. The couple engaged in farming for 33 years. Pearl also worked in Dietary Services for 33 years at the Bertrand school and Bertrand Nursing Home. Lloyd passed away in 1981.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bertrand.
She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Raymond Johnson and his wife, Joyce of Denver, Colorado; one sister, Darlene Rollings of California; one brother, R. Arvid Huggett and his wife, Marge of Central City, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Jacquie Cupich, Erik Johnson and his wife, Sharon of Denver and Diana Schaefer of Spokane, Washington; four great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Justin Cupich, Ella Johnson, and Keith Hopkins all of Denver.
Besides her parents and husband, Lloyd, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Schaefer, one sister, Helen Roberts; three brothers: Laurence, Wayne and Ervin Huggett; and grandson, Keith Johnson.
There will be no visitation, as the family is honoring Pearl's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in her memory and will be designated at a later date.
