Graveside Services for Perry L. Willis will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, August 15, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Brad Wiese officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery.
Perry Leroy Willis, 66 years of age, of Indianola, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, August 12, 2008 at the Indianola Residential. Perry was born February 26, 1942 at Parlett, Ohio, the sixth of eleven children of John and Flossie (Wilson) Willis. Perry received his education at Bloomingdale, Ohio, graduating from Wayne High School with the class of 1962. Following his education, Perry was inducted into the United States Marine Corps, serving his country during Vietnam until his medical honorable discharge.
Following his service, Perry was unable to work and returned home to Bloomingdale, Ohio to be near his parents. Perry loved to fish, in his younger years enjoyed playing baseball and always had a fascination with Railroad Trains. Most of all, Perry enjoyed spending time with his family.
He leaves to mourn his passing his three sisters: Shirley Barto, Josephine Carpenter and her husband, John and Kathleen Carpenter and her husband, Bill all of Holdrege; two brothers: John Willis of Willington, Kansas and Robert Willis of California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters: two sisters in infancy, Mary Elizabeth and Ethel Elaine, Arbutus Reiss, Sandra Willis and Audrey Porter and one brother, Richard Willis.
Perry will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Friday, August 15, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon.
A memorial has been established in his memory.
