A visitation for Pete Graf will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege. Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home.
Interment will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 at 9:15 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Orleans, Nebraska, with Military Honors provided by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 and the Orleans Harold Morin Post #184 in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial for Pete Graf will be held on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, Nebraska with Father Jay Buhman as Celebrant.
Kenneth Clarence "Pete" Graf, 90 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on February 10, 2024, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Pete was born on the family farm in rural Harlan County, Nebraska on May 6, 1933, the second of three sons, born to Clarence and Estella (Carroll) Graf. He received his primary education from District #69 Country School in Harlan County and later attended and graduated from Orleans High School, with the class of 1950.
On January 5, 1953, Pete was united in marriage to Grace "Darlene" Goldsbury at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Orleans, and to this union, six children were born: Pat, Michael, James, Richard, Teresa, and Christopher. The couple made their home in Holdrege where Pete worked as a Diesel Mechanic for Westergren Brothers Land Leveling and S&W Auto Parts as a Machinist for 30 years. Together they enjoyed camping and fishing.
On July 15, 1953, Pete was inducted into the United States Army and completed the Special Training Battalion for the 10th Infantry Division. Pete served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on June 3, 1955.
Pete was an active volunteer for the food pantry in Holdrege. He enjoyed watching football, hunting, woodworking, and tinkering with machines.
He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church in Holdrege, a past president and was active with the Lions Club for 52 years as well as the Legion.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter-in-law, Patty Graf; one brother, Bill Graf; four brothers-in-law, Errol Goldsbury and his wife, Lucille; Bob Goldsbury and his wife, Midge; John Goldsbury and his wife, Helen; Neil Goldsbury and his wife, Tina.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Graf of Holdrege; six children: Pat Graf and his wife, Marsha of Holdrege; Mike Graf and his wife, Poochie of Orleans, Nebraska; Dr. James Graf of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Richard Graf and his wife, Linda of Holdrege; Teresa Reeves and her husband, Leonard of Eagle Rock, Missouri; and Christopher Graf and his wife, Jennifer of Orleans; 17 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Dean Graf and his wife, Anita of Grand Island, Nebraska; one sister-in-law, Joann Graf of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in Pete's honor, and kindly suggested to the Nebraska Lions Foundation. Memorials can be sent directly to The Nebraska Lions Foundation, 14517 R Street, Omaha, NE 68137 or the All Saints Catholic School or the All Saints Catholic Church.
