Funeral Services for Philip H. Hays will be conducted from the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Dale Lambert, officiating. Interment will be Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at the High Creek Cemetery, near Rock Port, Missouri.
Philip Harold Hays, 56 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at his home in Holdrege. Philip was born October 21, 1954 in Humboldt, Nebraska, the youngest of three sons of Harold G. and Barbara N. (Beal) Hays. He grew up in Ogallala, Nebraska and enjoyed family get-togethers, trips, church, singing in the choir, and bicycling with friends in the community.
He was baptized at the United Methodist Church in Ogallala in April of 1961. Philip attended the Nebraska State School in Cozad, Nebraska for ten years. In 1974, Philip moved to Bethphage Mission in Axtell, Nebraska. During this time, he worked in the assembly room repairing pallets, pop cases and assembling bolt pins. In February of 1981, Philip moved to Holdrege and began working at the Bethphage Corner Nugget Workshop. He loved his job assisting with the process of rug making.
Philip enjoyed music, dancing, movies, books, church, and spending time with family and friends. People were drawn to Philip because of his sense of humor, kindness, and politeness. Philip had made many friends over the years and will be truly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Philip is survived by his brothers: Patrick Hays of North Platte, Nebraska and Mike Hays and his wife, Julie of Midland, Michigan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 30, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in his memory and will be designated at a later date.
