Funeral Services for Phyllis A. Freburg will be conducted from the Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Murray Jones, officiating. Interment will be in the Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.

Phyllis Amanda Freburg, 87 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, November 17, 2006 at the Christian Homes at Holdrege. Phyllis was born August 24, 1919, ten miles north of Bertrand in the Westside Community of Phelps County, Nebraska, one of three children of Axel and Elvera (Norall) Freburg. She was baptized and confirmed in the Westmark Evangelical Free Church north of Loomis, Nebraska. She received her primary education at a rural school and then graduated from Bertrand High School with the class of 1937.

Following her education, Phyllis worked in Denver, Colorado for three years before returning to Bertrand. In 1946 her family moved to Holdrege, where she was employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, first as a switchboard operator and later transferred to the Plant Department as a Senior Clerk. In 1978, after 32 years of employment Phyllis took an early retirement due to the reorganizing of the company. On August 6, 2004 she moved to the Christian Homes.

She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Free Church, where she was active in the Free Church Women's Ministries, White Cross and Joy. Phyllis volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels for several years and took friends who didn't drive to church and other places. Phyllis and her sister, Alice loved to travel together and she enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers.

She leaves to mourn her passing several cousins, other relatives and friends. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Alice Freburg and brother, Ralph Freburg who was killed in WW II.

Phyllis will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Monday, November 20, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in her memory and suggested to the Trinity Evangelical Free Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
