Memorial Services for Phyllis A. (Winquest) McClymont will be conducted from the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, Nebraska on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Nora Mendyk and Chaplain DeWane Dow officiating.  Private family interment will be held prior to the services at Prairie Home Cemetery at Holdrege.
Phyllis Ann (Winquest) McClymont, 92 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Christian Homes Care Community at Holdrege. Phyllis was born September 27, 1925 in Holdrege, Nebraska, the youngest of three children born to Chester Orville and Daisy Elizabeth (Cederburg) Winquest. She received her education at Holdrege, graduating from Holdrege High School with the class of 1943. She then attended the Nebraska Wesleyan University and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
On February 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Dean DeWitt McClymont at Holdrege, and to this union four children were born: Jane, Sarah, John and Steven. The family made their home on the family farm south of Loomis, Nebraska. Phyllis was employed as a secretary by Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District for 28 years, until both Dean and Phyllis' retirement in 1990. At this time, they moved into Holdrege. Dean passed away in 2007.
Phyllis was a faithful member of 83 years of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, where she was baptized and confirmed. She served the church in various ways over the years, including committees and as secretary to the Church Board.
Phyllis was proud of her Phelps County family heritage, where her grandfather, Samuel Winquest was a prominent Holdrege tailor, and her father, Chet Winquest was a well-known grocer.
She enjoyed participating and helping with activities of the Loomis Public Schools during her children's school years. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter HM of Holdrege, the Loomis MNO Club, and had been active in a number of organizations including the Phelps Memorial Hospital League, and the Phelps County Historical Society. After her retirement in 1990, she enjoyed volunteer work with Meals on Wheels, the Immunization Clinic and the Phelps Memorial Health Center Service League.
Besides her parents and husband, Dean, she was preceded in death by: a brother, Harold Winquest; and a sister, Kathryn Deck and her husband, John.
Phyllis leaves to mourn her passing: her two daughters: Jane Teply and her husband, Darrell of Kearney, Nebraska and Sarah (Sally) Mueller and Creighton Nelson of Holdrege; two sons: John McClymont and his wife, Deborah of Norton, Kansas and Steve McClymont and his wife, Claire of Evergreen, Colorado; son-in-law, Gary Mueller of Holdrege; 13 grandchildren: C.J. Teply and his wife, Marcy of Lincoln, Nebraska; Sarah Jones and her husband, Jason of Kearney, Nebraska; Taylor Jernigan and her husband, Kendall of Arlington, Texas; Matthew Mueller of Kearney; Tyler Mueller and his wife, Michelle of Holdrege; Grant McClymont and his wife, Cindel McClymont of Hays, Kansas; Scott Westbrook and his wife, Candi of Tyro, Kansas; Kirk Westbrook and his wife, Laura of Canadian, Texas; Brian McClymont and his wife, Samantha and C.J. McClymont of Largo, Florida; Sarah Daye and her husband, Andy of Jacksonville, Florida; Jenelle Kochevar and her husband, Sino of Denver, Colorado and Jamin Winans and his wife, Kiowa of Denver; 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law: Phyllis Johnson of Lincoln and Adri McClymont of Holdrege; and four nieces, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Phyllis' honor, and kindly suggested to the First United Methodist Church of Holdrege and the Nebraska Prairie Museum of Holdrege.
