Phyllis "June" Mcguire

Funeral Services for Phyllis June McGuire will be conducted from the Presbyterian Church of Orleans, Nebraska on Thursday, October 5, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. with Mr. Neil Collins, officiating. Interment will follow at the Orleans Cemetery.

Phyllis "June" McGuire, 79 years of age, of Orleans, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. She was born November 29, 1926 in Atlanta, Nebraska the 2nd of 3 children born to Harlo and Elsie (Wells) Ambler. She received her primary education in Nebraska and Kansas, graduating from Beaver City High School in Beaver City, Nebraska. Following her education, June attended Nursing School in Yakima, Washington.

In September of 1951 she was united in marriage to Frank McGuire in McMinnville, Oregon and to this union, 4 children were born: Frank Jr., John, James and Melonna. The family made their home in Anchorage, Alaska where June and her husband, Frank, started the McGuire Dental Lab. She also worked at the Presbyterian Hospital for many years. She then was employed by the Anchorage Daily Times as a supervisor in the News Department. Later June and her husband endeavored on a Rock Shop called the Rock-A-Dashery. In 1994, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, which prompted her move to Orleans. June was a member of the Orleans Presbyterian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Orleans Civic Club. June always said she felt at home when she relocated to Orleans, back to where her father, Harlo had so many memories with the baseball team and barber shop.
She leaves to mourn her passing three sons: Frank McGuire of Mat-Su Valley, Alaska; John McGuire and his wife, Becky of Dutch Harbor, Alaska; Jim McGuire and his wife, Jennifer of Irvine, California; one daughter: Melonna Miles and her husband, Forrest of Wasilla, Alaska; 1 brother: James Ambler and his wife, Patricia of Gothenburg, Nebraska; 1 sister: Beverly Reynolds and her husband, Donald of Dekalb, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Mrs. McGuire will lie in state at the Mitchell Funeral Home in Orleans on Wednesday, October 4, 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
