Phyllis E Schroder

A funeral service for Phyllis Schroder will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at the Alma Free Methodist Church in Alma, Nebraska, with Chaplain DeWane Dow and Pastor Jay Brandon officiating.  Interment will follow at the Alma Cemetery.

Phyllis ElBertha Schroder, 94 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, formerly of Alma, passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Phyllis was born on October 5, 1928, in Polk County, Nebraska, the eldest of three, born to Ralph and Bertha (Johnson) Peterson. She received her primary education in Polk County and later attended the Polk High School, graduating with the class of 1946.

On October 5, 1946, she was united in marriage to Eldon Schroder in Phillipsburg, Kansas and they were blessed with four children: Richard, Sharon, Loren and Susan. Phyllis worked alongside Eldon on the family farm near Huntley, Nebraska and cared for her family.

She was a member of the Alma Free Methodist Church and was actively involved in the Huntley Community, including 4H Club Leadership and a member of the Huntley Dozen Dingy Dames (DDD) Ladies Club.

After suffering a stroke in 2014, she moved to Christian Homes in Holdrege and was very involved with resident bible studies and chapel services.

Throughout her life, Phyllis enjoyed spending time in the garden, tending her fruit trees, sewing, teaching Sunday School, traveling and most importantly, spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her daughter, Sharon in infancy; her parents; husband, Eldon Schroder; brother, Dale Peterson and wife, Ann; great-granddaughter, Ava Schroder; brother-in-law, Dean Moore; and her son, Dr. Richard Schroder.

Phyllis leaves to celebrate her life; her son, Loren Schroder and his wife, Shelly of Holdrege, their children:  Katherine (Russell) Benson; Eric Schroder; Alexandra (Carter) Shearer; and Eden (Zac) Jackson; daughter, Susan Schroder of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Nancy Schroder of Pierce, Nebraska, and children:  Bryce Schroder, Ph.D; Cristina Brovont, D.D.S. (Tim Brovont, D.D.S.); and Brock Schroder, MSME (Kelsey Schroder, PharmD); 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Colleen Moore of  Kansas; along with other relatives, and many friends.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023, at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in Phyllis' honor and kindly suggested to the Nebraska Prairie Museum or Christian Homes Care Community.
