Graveside Services for Ralph E. Journey will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Father Thomas Lux officiating at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege, Nebraska. Military Rites will be conducted by the Martin-Horn American Legion Post #66 of Holdrege in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.

Ralph Edward Journey, 82 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at his home in Holdrege.  Ralph was born June 21, 1933 at Lexington, Nebraska, the eldest of nine children born to Frank Joseph and Rose Louise (Miller) Journey. He received his primary education at Bryant School in Kearney, Nebraska through the 5 th grade and a rural school in Buffalo County School from 6 th to 8 th grade and then attended Amherst High School until his sophomore year and then graduated from Elm Creek High School with the class of 1952.

Following his education, Ralph enlisted in the United States Army on June 2, 1953. He transferred to the Army Reserves and was honorably discharged on May 27, 1955.

On September 5, 1953, Ralph was united in marriage to Bonnie June Barnes at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.  They made their home in Holdrege where Ralph was employed at Bruns Furniture for 13 years as a carpet layer. Ralph then started his own carpet laying company called, Ralph's Floor Service. After retirement, Ralph and Bonnie traveled to Arizona and Texas in the winter months. When they returned to Holdrege for the summer months, Ralph engaged in mowing for the City of Holdrege and also the City of Alma. On July 5, 2012, Bonnie preceded him in death.

Besides traveling with Bonnie, he enjoyed camping and fishing.

Besides his parents and wife, Bonnie; Ralph was preceded in death by two brothers:  Ed Journey and Ervin Journey; and two sisters, Josephine Osborn and Alice Marie Journey in infancy.

He leaves to celebrate his life; two brothers:  Gerald "Jerry" Journey and his wife, Joan of Georgetown, Texas and Wayne Journey and his wife, Sue of Grand Island, Nebraska; two sisters:  Blanche Worthing and her husband, Patrick of Roseburg, Oregon and Marylin Schukar of Elm Creek; brother-in-law, Otto Osborn of Kearney; and numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial has been established in Ralph's honor and will be designated at a later date.
