Memorial Services for Ramsey Austin will be conducted from the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Loomis, Nebraska on Monday, February 8, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mike Szekely, officiating.
Ramsey Ray Austin, 67 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska (formerly of Loomis, Nebraska), passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at the Christian Homes Care Community in Holdrege. Ramsey was born September 18, 1942 to Dwight and Irene (Wilson) Austin in Gothenburg, Nebraska.
Ramsey attended Gothenburg Senior High, graduating with the class of 1961. On April 1, 1962 he was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Sharon Kay Gronewold, having two daughters: Tricia Rae and Jennifer Marie. The family made their home in Gothenburg, Cozad and Lexington, Nebraska, where Ramsey worked for Monroe Auto, Wheeler's Farm Supply and Sperry New Holland.
In 1983, Ramsey took ownership of the grocery store in Loomis, becoming a friend and confidant to all who shopped in the 3 wood floored aisles. Ramsey enjoyed running the R & S Market when he wasn't on one of his beloved golf excursions with his friends.
Ramsey honorably served on the Loomis Board of Directors for a total of 12 years and of those years, he was also elected to the position of Chairman of the Board for 6 years. After closing the Market, Ramsey enjoyed working with Bethphage Mission residents at the Holdrege Woodshop. Following his employment at Becton Dickinson, Ramsey spent the remainder of his life with family and friends, being cared for by "his angel", Sharon. He especially enjoyed the times with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their homes in Omaha and Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He leaves to celebrate his life, the love of his life, Sharon of Holdrege; two daughters: Tricia Linscott and her husband, Jeff of Omaha, Jennifer Luke and her husband, Robert of Denton, Texas; grandchildren: Victoria, Jasmine and Elizabeth Linscott, Savannah Haight, Austin Linscott and Gabrielle and Skylar Luke; great-grandchildren: Alexis, Nikolas and Jackson Dinverno and was looking forward to the birth of his 4th great-grandchild, Tristan Jeffrey Haight due February 12th; one brother, Mark Austin and his wife, Fern of Hastings, Nebraska; and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be no visitation, private family burial will be at a later date.
A memorial has been established in his memory and kindly suggested to the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Loomis.
