Randy Kuck

Celebration of Life Service for Randy Kuck will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Westmark Evangelical Free Church in rural Loomis, Nebraska with Pastors Rick Smith and Mike Hellum officiating.  Interment will be in the Highland Cemetery at Bertrand, Nebraska.

Randall Lynn "Randy" Kuck, 60 years of age, of Bertrand, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2015 as the result of a motor vehicle accident north of Holdrege, Nebraska.  Randy was born July 28, 1955 at Kearney, Nebraska, the fourth of five children born to Waldo and Helen "Georgia" (Christensen) Kuck.  He received his education from Bertrand Community School, graduating from Bertrand High School with the class of 1974.

As a young man, Randy began working with his brother from the age of 14 to 25 and then started farming on his own.  On February 28, 1981 he was united in marriage to Shari York at the United Methodist Church in Oxford, Nebraska and to this union four children were born:  Troy Douglas, Mandy Michelle, Travis Lynn and Mindy Jo.  The family made their home south of Bertrand.  He loved the Bertrand area and never had a desire to live anywhere else.  Life was centered on the farming and ranching operation, he enjoyed the new technology with farming, helping the boys with their silage business, and was constantly bringing God's creation of wild animals home to the farm.  Randy was always willing to help friends and neighbors in need.

Randy loved following NASCAR with his father-in-law and sons.  In his eyes, good years involved following the girls with their sports and the boys with their demolition derbies.  He also loved spending time with his granddaughters and showering them with gifts.  He was a loyal Bertrand Viking fan, he loved driving fast and ran out of gas often, had an interest in antique tractors, vacationing with friends and he enjoyed playing hymns on the piano.

Randy accepted the Lord at an early age and was an active member of the Westmark Evangelical Free Church, where he was past chairman for 8 years, youth sponsor, and Sunday school teacher.  He was also a member of the Loomis CO-OP Board, served on the Bertrand School Board, involved as the MC for the Bertrand Antique Tractor Pull for many years, helped start the Bertrand Viking Booster Club, enjoyed breakfast at C-Plus, and simply loved being around people.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Georgia Kuck, father-in-law, Doug York, and brother, Wally Kuck.

He leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Shari Kuck of Bertrand; four children:  Troy Kuck and his wife, Alysia, Mandy Sand and her husband, Jonathan, Travis Kuck and his wife, Mariah, and Mindy Kuck all of Bertrand; four granddaughters:  Avary, Adrian, Elle, and Tilden; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Janice (York) Maaske and Darrel Maaske of Oxford; two sisters:  Pat Strong and her husband, Joe of Wilcox, Nebraska and Lyla Cadenhead and her husband, Bob of Travelers Rest, South Carolina; one brother, Leroy Kuck and his wife, Loretta of Bertrand; sisters-in-law:  Sheila Svoboda and her husband, Scott of Atlantic, Iowa, Shirlee Poyser and her husband, Craig of Alma, Nebraska, Sandy Dannehl and her husband, Calvin of Bertrand; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with the family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Westmark Evangelical Free Church north of Loomis, Nebraska.  The casket will be closed.

A memorial has been established in Randy's honor and will be designated at a later date.
