Raymond Vernon "Ray" Burton, 65 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away tragically on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at his residence in Holdrege. Ray was born November 18, 1953, in Columbus, Kansas. At the age of three, Ray was adopted to Glenn Wayne and Esther Burdell (Gooder) Burton. The family made their home at Agra, Kansas, where he received his education at Eastern Heights High School.
Following his education, Ray began a long career in agriculture. After Ray moved to the Holdrege area, he drove a mixer truck in Alma for many years. He was then employed as a hired man at Loomis Cattle Company for 8 years, and for area farmers until his health no longer allowed him to work.
Ray had a passion for collecting model cars and was an avid fisherman and hunter in his younger years.
Besides his parents; Ray was preceded in death by several siblings.
He leaves to celebrate his life; one daughter, Traci; brother, Leon; sister, Wanda; and a host of additional siblings, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Per Ray's request, no public services will be held. The family is honoring Ray's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Ray's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
