A Memorial Service for Rebecka J. Carlson will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the Wilcox Community Church in Wilcox, Nebraska, with Pastor Craig Cedar officiating. Inurnment will be held at the Wilcox Cemetery in Wilcox, Nebraska.

Rebecka Jolaine Carlson, 77 years of age, of Wilcox, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025, with her sister and aunt by her side. Rebecka was born on November 1, 1947, in Holdrege, the eldest of two children, born to Robert W. and Lillian "Faye" (Russell) Poague. She received her education from Wilcox Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1965. She then attended Cosmetology School in Holdrege, receiving her license in 1967. Rebecka then worked at Becton Dickinson in Holdrege.

On February 12, 1972, she was united in marriage to Keith C. Carlson at the Wilcox Community Church. The couple made their home in Wilcox, where Rebecka was employed as a Sales associate at the McDonald's Clothing Store in Holdrege and also was an AVON Representative for many years. On August 29, 2014, she was preceded in death by Keith. They were blessed with 42 years of marriage, enjoyed their home together and were truly best friends.

Rebecka loved antiques and attending garage sales and was a collector of women's accessories and working tools from women of the past. She enjoyed painting, sewing and quilting. Rebecka had a knack for taking something discarded and making it into something useful and beautiful. She loved making special gifts for her family and friends.

She attended Sunday School and Bible instruction at the Wilcox Community Church, in her youth.

Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers in infancy, John and James; and her step-son, Rip Carlson.

Rebecka leaves to celebrate her life, her sister, Melinda Ferree, of Wilcox; two nieces: Kaylee Yetter and her husband, Shane of Broken Bow, Nebraska; and Taylor Rothell and her husband, Ian of Olatha, Kansas; one great-niece, Lillian Mae Yetter; three great-nephews: Asher, Avett, and Shepherd Rothell; one aunt, Phyllis Schwaninger of Clarinda, Iowa; two step-daughters: JoDee West of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Julie Chapin (Dean) of Shell Knob, Missouri; one step-granddaughter, Jianna West;

along with extended family members, and many special friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring her wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Rebecka's honor and kindly suggested to NET (PBS tv station).
