A memorial service for Reita J. Anderson will be held on October 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Rev. Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart Jr. officiating. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Nebraska.

Reita Jean Anderson, 92 years of age, of Kearney, Nebraska, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Mother Hull Home in Kearney, Nebraska. Reita was born on the family farm near Lyons, Kansas, on July 23, 1933, the only child of Eugene and Ruth (Poland) Wright. She received her education from Lyons Public School, graduating with the class of 1951.

On June 17, 1951, Reita was united in marriage to Billy Edward "Bill" Anderson in Lyons, Kansas, and to this union three daughters were born: Tamra Kay, Kathryn Gail, and Kimberly Beth. The couple made their home in League City, Texas, and about a year after their marriage, Bill was inducted into the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged on May 5, 1956. In 1964, they moved to Hays, Kansas, where Reita worked as a secretary and bookkeeper at Hays Unified School District. In 1970, they moved to McCook, Nebraska, where she was employed at the YMCA, McCook Public Schools for the Superintendent's office, the Elementary School Office, and later in admissions at the McCook Community Hospital. In December of 2000, Bill and Reita relocated to Holdrege to be closer to family.

When Reita was younger, she loved riding horses. Together, Bill and Reita enjoyed fishing, boating, and camping. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Holdrege.

The family would like to extend their gratitude for the care she received from the nurses and staff at Mother Hull Home.

Reita was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill; one daughter, Tammy; one grandson, Travis Shafer; and one great-grandson, Noah Gardine.

Reita is survived by two daughters: Kathy Bamesberger and her husband, Keith of Columbus, Nebraska and Kim Reiners and her husband, Rick of Kearney; seven grandchildren: Jason Shafer; Megan Schultz and her husband, Travis; Amanda Gardine and her husband, Austin; Andrew Reiners and his wife, Carolyn; Molly Kluver and her boyfriend, Anthony Bax; Emily Hegemann and her husband, Brandon; and Michael Bamesberger; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Reita's wish for cremation.

A memorial has been established in Reita's honor, and kindly suggested to the First Presbyterian Church of Holdrege.
