A graveside service for Richard K. Blum will be held on Monday, March 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Alma Cemetery in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Murray Jones officiating.
Richard Kent "Rich" Blum, 73 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska. Rich was born in Alma on April 6, 1952, the youngest of four children, born to Paul and Alice (Ekberg) Blum. He received his education in Alma and Loveland, Colorado. Graduating with the class of 1970 in Loveland.
While living in Loveland, Rich met and married Cynthia "Cindy" Davis on March 27, 1976. Rich's father, Paul, owned and operated the Chrysler dealership in Alma, and Rich grew up surrounded by cars, parts, and the love of any vehicle needing repair. A true mechanic, Rich worked for various automotive shops and dealerships. When he decided to open his own shop in 1980, he and Cindy moved to Holdrege from Loveland to be closer to family. Rich was happiest when doing what he loved most – fixing and collecting cars.
He was a member of the Elks Club for 51 years and the Nebraska Rod and Custom Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jolene Nye; brother, Stanley Blum and his wife, Donna; and one nephew, Van Whitmire.
Rich leaves to celebrate his life, his wife, Cynthia Blum of Holdrege; one sister, LouJean Whitmire of Lincoln; and a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and very special friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
A memorial has been established in Rich's honor, and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Animal Rescue at P.O. Box 811, Holdrege, NE 68949.
