Memorial Services for Richard G. "Dick" Dulmus will be conducted on Sunday, October 22, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain Kathy Doiel officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

Richard Gerald Dulmus, 95 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Dick was born on October 19, 1922, in Clymer, New York, the sixth of eleven children born to John and Lulu (Hondorp) Dulmus. He attended school in Jamestown, New York.


Dick went to work at the young age of 9, at his uncle's dairy farm. At age 16, Dick and a friend came to Steamboat Springs, Colorado to go fishing and ended up staying in the area. He worked at a dairy in Steamboat Springs and then worked for Si Lockhart and then in 1939, he helped Rusty Baker start a trucking company, Valley Transfer. Dick drove for him for the next 47 years. He retired in 1986 from trucking and then went to work for the COOP in Steamboat Springs, for two years.

In 1970, Dick was united in marriage to Helen F. Packer. The couple raised five children: Pam, Renea, Bobbie, Larry and Michael.

Dick enjoyed singing and always wanted to be a professional singer. He enjoyed watching Western Movies, including: Walker Texas Ranger, John Wayne and Gene Autry movies. He loved being over the road and enjoyed sitting and reminiscing about his days of driving.

Besides his parents, Dick was preceded in death by his siblings.

Dick leaves to celebrate his life, his wife: Helen Dulmus of Holdrege; his sons: Michael Dulmus and his wife, Carissa of Holdrege and Larry Dulmus of Casper, Wyoming; his daughters: Renea Weisshaar and her husband, Terry of Gibbon, Nebraska, Bobbie O'dell and her husband, Darin, of Casper, Wyoming and Pam Sinquefeild and her husband, Roger of Phoenix City, Alabama; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family is honoring Dick's wish for cremation. There will be no visitation or memorial book signing.

A memorial has been established in Dick's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
