Richard David "Rip" Green passed away peacefully on January 15, 2014, at the Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Boca Raton, Florida.  He had courageously and without complaint battled lymphoma for fiveyears.

Rip was born on February 27, 1945 in New York, New York to Ethel (Kaplan) and Irving Green, and was raised in the Bronx and Queens.  He was the youngerof two children.

After attending Queens College, City University of New York, Rip joined the United States Air Force. During his three-year military stint, he served on the island of Menorca, off the coast of Spain, as a radio relay communications technician.  He was honorably discharged in 1969 with the rank of Sergeant.

Tiring of cold New York winters, Rip moved to Pompano Beach, Florida in 1974, where he worked in the computer industry negotiating major corporate agreements.  He met and married Sandra G. Polhemus on January 21, 1989.  At the time of his death they had been married six days short of their 25 th wedding anniversary.

Rip was passionate about everything he did.  He was a talented amateur carpenter, photographer, writer, and chef. Along with his wife, he traveled extensively.  Among the countries visited were France, Germany, England, Ireland, Turkey, Spain, Russia, China, and Japan.  Rip had a keen intellect and a wicked sense of humor that constantly entertained friends and family.  He strongly identified with his Jewish heritage, and although he was not a practicing Jew, he was a staunch supporter of Israel and would not let others lose sight of the atrocities of the Holocaust.

Rip was preceded in death by his parents, Ethel (Kaplan) and Irving Green; mother-in-law, Helen O. (Bradshaw) Polhemus; father-in-law Eugene Polhemus; and brother-in-law, Edward A. Polhemus.  Surviving are his wife, Sandy, of Boca Raton, Florida; brother, Dan Green (Joyce), of Nanuet, New York; stepmother-in-law, Soffia  E.
