A Memorial Service for Richard "Dick" Dodson will be held on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Loomis Evangelical Free Church in Loomis, Nebraska, with Pastor Tom Thompson officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Moses Hill Cemetery, rural Phelps County, Nebraska.

Richard Lynn "Dick" Dodson, 74 years of age, of Holdrege, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at CHI Health Bergen Mercy in Omaha, Nebraska. Dick was born on December 6, 1951, at Brewster Hospital in Holdrege, the youngest of eleven children of Charley and Etta (Warner) Dodson. He received his education at Loomis Public Schools and graduated from Loomis High School with the class of 1971.

On November 8, 1975, Dick was united in marriage to Barbara R. Murphy at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege. They were blessed with three children:  Matt, Nikki, and Justin. The couple made their home in the Loomis / Holdrege area, where Dick worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District, for a few years and then began working for Keith Samuelson Land Leveling, for over 35 years.  The couple recently celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary in November.

Dick was a jokester and enjoyed giving others a hard time. He knew no stranger! He was a member of First United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters: Gladys Faye at 2 years of age; Twyla Dahlgren and her husband, Orville; and Betty Steinkruger and her husband, Leland; seven brothers: Raymond Dodson and his two wives, Ruth and Evelyn; Duane "Zeke" Dodson and his wife, Evelyn; Allen Dodson and his wife, Delores; Glen Dodson; Bill Dodson and his wife, Gerry; and Ralph Dodson and his wife, Betty; Jack Dodson; other extended family members; and a brother-in-law, Stan Murphy.

Dick is survived by his wife, Barb Dodson of Holdrege; their children: Matt Dodson of Holdrege; Nikki Dornhoff and her husband, Malcom of Heartwell, Nebraska; and Justin Dodson (Brianna Hinson) of Oxford; three granddaughters: Makenna and Marah Dornhoff; and Taelyn Pritchard; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Dodson of Emmett, Idaho; one brother-in-law: Steve Murphy and his wife, Kelly of Wray, Colorado; along with many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

A memorial book signing will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Dick's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for future designation.
