Funeral Services for Richard R. "Dick" Rentzell will be conducted at the United Methodist Church in Alma, Nebraska, on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Jim Bendorf officiating. Following the traditional funeral, cremation will take place. Inurnment will take place on Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at the Alma Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Fay Cady American Legion Post #118 of Alma in conjunction with the United States Army Military Honors Team.

Richard Royal Rentzell, 82 years of age, of Alma, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2014 at the CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Nebraska. Dick was born July 24, 1932, at Niobrara, Nebraska, the youngest of five children born to Oscar and Crystal (Stinson) Rentzell. He attended and graduated from Niobrara High School with the class of 1950. After high school, Dick completed Barber School in Omaha, Nebraska.

On October 21, 1961, he was united in marriage to Janet Ann Lowe and to this union, three children were born: Sharon Jo on June 4, 1962, Steven Ray on October 3, 1966 and Susan Marie on October 11, 1969. The couple started their life together in Omaha. They later made their home in Wausa, Nebraska finally settling in Alma in 1971.

Dick owned Dick's Barber Shop for 37 ½ years in Alma. He worked as a barber for a total of 45 years before his retirement in 2011.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Katherine and Marcelian; and two brothers: Raymond and Dwain.

He is survived by his wife, Janet of Alma; children: Steve Rentzell of Mesa, Arizona, Sharon Rentzell of Hastings, Nebraska and Susan Rentzell of Alma; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma.

A memorial has been established in Dick's name and kindly suggested to the United Methodist Church in Alma.
