Mass of Christian Burial for Rick Hinojosa will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Kearney, Nebraska with Father Joe Hannappel officiating.  Interment will follow at Kearney Cemetery in Kearney.

Ricky "Rick" Hinojosa, 48 years of age, of Loomis, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at his home in Loomis.  Rick was born on October 7, 1967, at St. Mary's Hospital in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, the younger of two boys born to Guadalupe (Lupe) and Benita (Ramirez) Hinojosa.  He was raised by his paternal grandparents, Jose and Carmen Hinojosa in Minatare, Nebraska. He received his education from Minatare Public Schools as well as Gering Public Schools.

He was an avid baseball player, receiving trophies and scholarships for his outstanding abilities.

He was employed at the Western Sugar Factory in Scottsbluff when he and Tanya Buechler were united in marriage in Hot Springs, South Dakota on June 26, 1987. During their union of marriage, they had six children: Velasha, Chance, Corban, Stetson, Ashlei and Jacob.

Rick later worked as a Feed Truck Driver in the Loomis and Bertrand, Nebraska area for local farmers.  He loved working for Cattle Companies and being outdoors, especially camping, fishing, cookouts and watching movies with his family. He listened to Old Time Rock and Roll music, Country and some modern music.

Rick was very easily liked and will be greatly missed by all that were close to him.

Rick was preceded in death by a son, Corban Hinojosa on April 9, 2012; mother, Benita Hinojosa; grandparents, Jose and Carmen Hinojosa; and an uncle, Charlie Hinojosa.

He leaves to celebrate his life; the mother of his children: Tanya (Buechler-Hinojosa) and her husband, Monty of Kearney; children: Velasha Hinojosa and her special friend, Edgar Arganda of Kearney, Chance Hinojosa and his wife, Jolene of Kearney, Stetson Hinojosa, Ashlei Hinojosa and Jacob Hinojosa all of Kearney; grandchildren: Giani Hinojosa, Angelo Hinojosa-Arganda and Isabella Hinojosa-Arganda all of Kearney; father and step-mother, Lupe, Sr. and Mary Hinojosa of Gering, Nebraska; brother, Lupe, Jr. (Jose) Hinojosa and his wife, Cathy of Chula Vista, California; half-sister, Desiree Ramirez and her husband, Jesse of Gering; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the Rosary recited at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established in Rick's honor and kindly suggested to the family.
