Robert Francis Delaney, 76 years of age, of Atlanta, Nebraska, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at the Phelps Memorial Center in Holdrege. He was born on June 2, 1930 at York, Nebraska, the eldest of 2 sons of Raymond Bernard and Ethel Mae (Gross) Delaney. Robert grew up on a farm south east of York and during his school years he helped with the farm work and participated in the usual rural activities of farm youth. He attended rural grade school and graduated from York High School with the class of 1948. His most favorite activity was riding and training horses. On June 2, 1948, Robert was united in marriage to Delores Maxine Nichols, and to this union three children were born: Michael Lee, Don Alan and Jacki Sue.

Robert and Delores farmed for a short time. After farming, Robert drove truck. For two and a half years he was on a two man operation, driving to 23 states. After leaving the trucking industry, he was employed at York Milling and Elevator in York. After several years there, he then joined the Fuller Brush Company and was later promoted to Sales Manager for that company. After more than 20 years with Fuller, he later worked as a Field Admissions Rep with DeVry Institute of Technology, a nation wide college system.

Robert's greatest interests were his radio job at KUVR, after he left DeVry, and his dance club membership. He also liked to study the human mind and interact with people. He had intense passion for U.S. history and economics and factors that made the country great; such as individual religious and political freedoms and the U.S. Constitution and Constitutional Law were also of great importance to him.

On August 4, 2001, he was united in marriage to Christine Gustafson of Hollister, Missouri, and the family made their home in Atlanta where they enjoyed gardening, yard work and remodeling projects. Bob and Christine also enjoyed attending the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Loomis and cherished the many friendship bonds formed there.

Robert leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Christine of Atlanta; two sons: Michael Delaney of Robersonville, North Carolina and Don Delaney his wife, Rayma, of Lincoln, Nebraska; his daughter, Jacki Botts of Kansas City, Missouri, eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry and one daughter-in-law, Betty.

Mr. Delaney will lie in state at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege on Wednesday, December 6. 2006 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
