Memorial Services for Robert E. "Bob" Romjue will be held on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Naponee Wesleyan Church in Naponee, Nebraska with Pastor Scott Randall officiating. A private family inurnment will be held prior to the service at the Naponee Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the United States Navy Funeral Honors Team.
Robert Elvin Romjue, 81 years of age, of Naponee, died on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska. He was born June 12, 1936, on his Grandpa Tom's 40 acre farm, south of Republican City, Nebraska, the third of four children born to Dean Kenneth and Lucille Mae (Melton) Romjue. He grew up on the family farm, and graduated from Naponee High School with the class of 1953.
At the age of 17, Bob was inducted into the United States Navy and served his country until his honorable discharge. Bob was united in marriage to Mary Wright and later divorced.
He started working at a young age at Gruwell's Creamery and Locker in Naponee. Bob was then employed by the U.S. Postal Service, and spent the majority of his career as a Rural Mail Carrier for many years prior to his retirement. He kept himself busy with many activities including: upholstering furniture, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Because of his love for everyone he knew, he was considered as "Naponee's Best Friend."
Bob was preceded in death by his parents: Dean and Lucille Romjue.
Survivors include: his sister; Betty Hare of Independence, Iowa; his two brothers: Don Romjue and sister-in-law, Wilma of Oakdale, California, and Floyd Romjue of Manteca, California; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and countless friends.
Memorial Book Signing will be held Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Alma, Nebraska.
