Funeral Services for Robert C. Stewart will be held on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Pastor Keith Theobald officiating. Following traditional services, cremation will take place and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Mt. Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska.

Robert Cole "Bob" Stewart, 73 years of age, of Atlanta, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society – Colonial Villa in Alma, Nebraska. Bob was born on June 29, 1942 at Kirksville, Missouri, the second of five children born to Charles Otto and Marie Alice (Northern) Stewart. Bob received his education in Kirksville. At a young age he began working with his father and grandfather in the rock quarry.

On August 11, 1961 he was inducted into the United States Army and served his country until his honorable discharge on August 9, 1963. The family resided in Oklahoma for a couple of years before settling to Wilsonville, Nebraska and later moved to Beaver City. While in Wilsonville, Bob bought a small farm and enjoyed raising livestock. At this time, Bob began a long career in the tree removal business with his father and brother, which became widely known as Stewart's Tree Service.

In September of 1963 he was united in marriage to Melba "Jackie" Crouch and the couple also renewed their vows on March 26, 2010. They enjoyed spending time together camping, fishing, hunting and traveling.

On November 30th, Bob suffered a mini-stroke. Due to health complications he resided at the Villa the past week, prior to his passing.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Stewart.

Bob leaves to celebrate his life; his wife, Jackie Stewart of Atlanta; nine children; nineteen grandchildren; one brother, Ray Stewart and his wife, Barb of Atlanta; two sisters: Alice "Bobbie" Stewart of Norton, Kansas and Patty Noel and her husband, Larry of Beaver City; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 1:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Bob's honor and will be designated at a later date.
