Rogene A. Peterson

Funeral Services for Rogene A. Peterson will be held on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bertrand, Nebraska with Reverend Matthew Hacker officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery north of Bertrand.

Rogene Ann Peterson, 73 years of age, of Bertrand, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at Bertrand Nursing Home after battling Lewy Body Dementia for several years. Rogene was born December 30, 1941 on the family farm south of Holdrege in Harlan County, Nebraska, the youngest of five children born to Carl Emmanuel and Millie Belle (Schroder) Olson. She received her education and graduated from Holdrege High School, with the class of 1959.

On August 5, 1961 she was united in marriage to Paul D. Peterson at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege and to this union five children were born: Rocky, Heidi, Matthew, Holly, and Heather. The family made their home on a farm north of Bertrand, where they engaged in farming and Rogene focused her efforts on raising their children. Throughout the years on the farm, she provided countless meals to the guys in the fields.

Rogene took great pride in her yard, and loved decorating and entertaining for the holidays, especially for Christmas. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Rogene was an active member of the Adullam and Immanuel Lutheran Churches, where she was active in many capacities.

She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Gearo and Florence Peterson; one brother, Kenneth Olson, two sisters: Lucille Soneson and Lois Rydlund and her husband, Bill; brother-in-law, Bob Harden and a niece, Sue Olson.

She leaves to celebrate her life; her husband, Paul Peterson of Bertrand; her five children: Rocky Peterson and his wife, DeDe, Heidi High and her husband, Phil, Matthew Peterson and his wife, Vicki all of Bertrand, Holly Johnson and her husband, Blake of Holdrege, and Heather Tool and her husband, Tobian of Elm Creek, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren: Dalton Peterson and his wife, Rachel, Ashton and Creighton Peterson; Alexa Benson and her husband, Matthew, Nolan, Jadyn and Atlee High; Mariah Kuck and her husband, Travis, and Mattison and Miles Peterson; Grady, Quinn, and Jett Johnson; Aspen, Emerson, and London Tool; one sister, Loretta Sturgis and her husband, Dale of Holdrege; sisters-in-law: Gwen (Olson) Harden of Holdrege, and Sharon Liljehorn and her husband, Jim of Kearney, Nebraska; brothers-in-law: Gordon Soneson of Holdrege and Gary Peterson and his wife, Eileen of Bertrand; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at the Nelson- Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Rogene's honor and will be designated at a later date.
