Roine O Johnson

Funeral Services for Roine O. Johnson will be held Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Reverend Jeff Adams officiating. Interment will be held at the Cottonwood Cemetery at Burwell, Nebraska on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. with Reverend Marvin Bauer officiating.

Roine O. Johnson, 101 years of age, of Holdrege (formerly of Burwell, Nebraska area), passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Holdrege Memorial Homes. Roine was born November 12, 1912 on a ranch near Amelia and Chambers, Nebraska in Holt County, the second of seven children born to LeRoy R. and Ethel (Scafe) Worden. She received her education from a rural school in Holt County.

On December 26, 1929 she was united in marriage to Howard B. "Mike" Johnson and to this union two daughters were born: DeLores and JoAnn. The family made their home on a ranch north of Burwell, where Roine focused her life on raising her daughters and caring for their home. Roine could also be found working side-by-side with her husband, Mike on the ranch. Following retirement in 1978 the couple retired into Burwell. Mike preceded Roine in death on September 26, 1979. After a couple years, Roine began to make her home in Holdrege to be near her daughter, JoAnn.

Roine enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and loved to play cards and Bingo. She also enjoyed handiwork, especially embroidery and decorating with sequins. She was baptized into the Methodist faith and remained a member of the Methodist church her entire life.

Besides her parents and husband, Mike; Roine was preceded in death by one daughter, DeLores Sakurai; two sons-in-law: Dan Sakurai and Harry Gregory; two brothers: Lyle Worden and his wife, Evelyn, Melvin Worden and his wife, Edith; one sister, Leone Moser and her husband, Ellsworth.

She leaves to mourn her passing; her daughter, JoAnn Gregory of Holdrege; two granddaughters: Linda Holben and her husband, Dale of Sutherland, Nebraska, Sherry Miller of Wichita, Kansas; one great-granddaughter: Dayna Mclaughlin and her husband, Gary of Fayetteville, North Carolina; two great-great-grandsons: Joshua and Jacob Dughman also of Fayetteville; three sisters: Elenor Rothchild of Neligh, Nebraska, Norma Maxson of Burwell, and Betty Gallaher of Huntington Beach, California; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.

A memorial has been established in Roine's honor and kindly suggested to the Holdrege Memorial Homes.
