Memorial Services for Ronald W. Florom will be held at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Mr. Donald Lackey, officiating. A private inurnment will be held at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege prior to the services.
Ronald Wayne Florom, 75 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away peacefully at Holdrege Memorial Homes on Friday, February 17, 2017. Ron was born November 30, 1941 in Holdrege, one of nine children born to Delbert and Lillie (Johnson) Florom.
Ron received his education from Holdrege High School, graduating with the class of 1959. Following graduation, Ron married Patricia Moline of Loomis, Nebraska in 1961, and to this union three children were born: Brian, Angie and Dennis.
Ron worked for many years at the Holdrege Daily Citizen as a production foreman until 1973, when he opened Ron's Printing on Third Avenue. Ten years later, he sold his print shop to buy Daylight Donuts, where he spent several years working all night "making the donuts." Later, he closed his store to embark on his last career, truck driving until his retirement in 2008.
Throughout his life, Ron had several hobbies including: fishing, golfing, bowling and especially wood-working. His grandchildren were never without a new homemade toy to play with. He was also a long time member of the Holdrege Jaycees and the First Baptist Church.
Ron is survived by his three children: Brian Florom of Laramie, Wyoming, Angie Werner of Grand Island, Nebraska, and Dennis Florom of Lincoln, Nebraska; two brothers: Roger Florom and Danny Florom; one sister, Delores; ten grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing, the family is honoring Ron's wish for cremation.
A memorial has been established in Ron's honor and will be designated at a later date.
