Memorial Services for Ronald R. "Ron" Hock will be conducted from the Hope Lutheran Church in rural Smithfield, Nebraska on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Cathi Braasch, officiating. Private family inurnment will be at a later date.

Ronald Robert Hock, 61years of age, of Lexington, Nebraska (formerly of Bertrand, Nebraska) passed away on Saturday, September 22, 2007 at the Tri-County Hospital in Lexington. Ron was born December 27, 1945 at San Francisco, California, the eldest of two children of Robert and Norma (Turner) Hock. He received his primary education from the Tracyville School District #20 in Gosper County and the Bertrand Community School. Ron then graduated from Bertrand High School with the class of 1963. During his years as a young man, Ron was active with 4-H and loved to hunt and fish. He then pursued higher education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for a year and then transferred and graduated from the Technical College of Agricultural at Curtis, Nebraska.

He was united in marriage to Linda Garrison on July 9, 1966 and to this union two children were born: Gregory Ronald and Gina Leigh. The family made their home at Curtis until moving to Grand Island, Nebraska, where Ron was employed by New Holland. In 1968 the family returned home to Smithfield where, Ron engaged in farming and raising livestock until 1984. Following his farming career, Ron was employed as an over-the-road commercial truck driver until June of 2007 due to his failing health.

He leaves to mourn his passing his son, Chief Warrant Officer 3, Greg Hock and his wife, Pilar of Richmond Hill, Georgia and his daughter, Gina Jones and her husband, Steve of Claymore, Oklahoma; his parents: Bob and Norma Hock of rural Smithfield; four grandchildren: Kaitlin and Katherine Hock and Brianna and Stephanie Jones; sister, Cinde Wendell and her husband, Monte of Holdrege, Nebraska; one niece, Jill Lavene and her husband, Justin of Gretna, Nebraska; nephew, Joe Wendell and his wife, Hannah of rural Smithfield; and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Memorial Book Signing will be on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at the Hope Lutheran Church of rural Smithfield, Nebraska from 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. with the family greeting from 7:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
