A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 4, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege.
Ronald Greg "Ron" Mayo, 57 years of age, of Holdrege, passed away, on October 24, 2022, near Elwood, Nebraska. Ron was born in Holdrege on August 27, 1965, the seventh of eight children, born to Vernon Lee "Red" and Norma Jean (Keslar) Mayo. He received his education from Holdrege Public Schools.
Ron worked at the Holdrege Country Club and the Tower as a cook and could grill a great steak. He also worked as a groundskeeper at the Prairie Home Cemetery.
Ron and Linda Lugo have spent 23 years together, and much of that time was spent doing what he loved, fishing. He enjoyed driving around and looking at lakes. He never missed an opportunity to hang around his nieces and nephews and teach them how to fish just like Uncle Ron. He liked to sing and play his guitar and share his talents with his family and friends. Ron had a big heart; he was always there to help with whatever needed to be done. You knew when Ron was near, he always had a joke and a booming voice.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Red and Norma Mayo; and his two brothers: Terry and Gary.
Ron is survived by his partner, Linda Lugo of Holdrege; his brother, Larry Mayo of Holdrege; four sisters: Susan Remmenga of Bertrand, Nebraska; Linda Swearingen and her husband, Clyde of Grand Island, Nebraska; Nancy Elting and her husband, Doug of Lincoln, Nebraska; and Pam Joy of Holdrege; sister-in-law, Cindy Mayo of Funk; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A memorial has been established in Ron's honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
